Red Flags of BLM Inc. – Part 1
Editors note – Black Lives Matter Inc. removed the “What We Believe” section from their website on September 21, 2020 with no explanation
Black Lives Matter! Simple enough right? Wrong. We need to ask ourselves why. Why has a statement meant to enhance equality for Black people turned into inauspicious and divisive rhetoric?
We need to establish the distinction between Black Lives Matter the statement, and Black Lives Matter the Organization.
On one side, proponents state Black Lives Matter is just about police brutality.
Other advocates state Black Lives Matter is about social injustice.
Opponents will say Black Lives Matter is a Marxist political organization who hates the fabric of America.
Who is right? Who is telling the truth and who is lying?
George Costanza once shared with Jerry, “It is not a lie, if YOU believe it.” So, what if everyone’s version of Black Lives Matter is true from their vantage point? Guess what then, everyone’s position is right! Now what?
After the murder of George Floyd, the civil unrest took the nation by storm. Peaceful protesters, ridiculous rioters, despicable looters, and asinine anarchists have all taken to the streets in perpetuity.
A consistent theme for each pro Black Lives Matter group is chanting the vaunted statement, “Black Lives Matter!” When chanted in peaceful protest, the message shines with palpable positivity.
When “Black Lives Matter!” is shouted during criminal acts such as vandalizing property, thievery, and assaults; Black Lives Matter unfortunately transforms from a feel-good uplifting protest/statement supporting Black people, to a potential domestic terrorist organization.
Calling Black Lives Matter a domestic terrorist organization is risky business that can get you fired or cancelled, so be careful.
What classifies domestic terrorism?
- Domestic Terrorist – Under the 2001 USA Patriot Act, domestic terrorism is defined as “activities that (A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the U.S. or of any state; (B) appear to be intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and (C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.” This definition is made for the purposes of authorizing law enforcement investigations.
- From ACLU – Section 802 of the USA PATRIOT Act (Pub. L. No. 107-52) expanded the definition of terrorism to cover “”domestic,”” as opposed to international, terrorism. A person engages in domestic terrorism if they do an act “dangerous to human life” that is a violation of the criminal laws of a state or the United States, if the act appears to be intended to: (i) intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination or kidnapping. Additionally, the acts have to occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States and if they do not, may be regarded as international terrorism.
By definition, Black Lives Matter the Organization can potentially be considered a domestic terrorist organization under the guise of “influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction (i.e. riots)”.
One can justifiably blame the Patriot Act for the potential domestic terrorist distinction. Nevertheless, the current laws are clear. Most people believe Black lives are important and they agree with the statement.
Conversely, the same people who think Black lives are important, may also think Black Lives Matter the Organization is a Marxist terrorist group.
Screaming Black Lives Matter during rioting and looting soon will be considered a war cry. The “it’s just a small minority of people committing vandalization” defense is false. Look at Portland, Seattle, and Milwaukee to name a few.
Peaceful protestors are shapeshifters. In a moment’s notice a peaceful protestor can switch to violent rioters or looters causing billions of dollars in damage.
Furthermore, data can paint any picture you want. For example, let’s say in a protest demonstration there are 100 protestors chanting “Black Lives Matter!” Seven of the protestors are protesting peacefully, albeit with bats. The seven protestors with bats, turn into rioters and decide to vandalize property while screaming “Black Lives Matter!”, and the property damage equates to $500,000.
- Headline for Narrative A – 93% of the protesters were peaceful in BLM protest. – or – Overwhelmingly, protesters were mostly peaceful and there were a few bad apples
- Headline for Narrative B – Violent BLM protestors caused $500,000 worth of property damage. – or – BLM rioters, looters, and communist cause $500,000 in damage while trashing stores and bashing capitalism
Perception is reality.
Who is to blame? For arguments sake, we will explore blaming Black Lives Matter (BLM) the Organization. We will dissect their website (blacklievsmatter.com) to create awareness into their powerful words.
We took screenshots directly from BLM’s website and we will analyze each line and we will highlight language that opponents typically use to discredit BLM. Let’s begin.
First section:
- Trayvon Martin should still be alive, and in our opinion, George Zimmerman should be in jail. Creating this movement due to Martin’s tragic death is admirable and appropriate. We will review how BLM expanded the movement which has caused civil division and detracted from enhancing Black lives.
- Please recognize Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc. The Organization is not a public charity and it does not have 501(c)(1) tax-exempt status. In Short, BLM is a non-profit corporation. So who manages BLM Inc?
- If you do not know about Thousand Currents, you can learn more about Thousand Currents here. Very interesting.
- How are the donations allocated? There is no financial breakdown on BLM’s website. The lack of transparency creates an opportunity for opponents to speculate that BLM is a Democratic leftist financial front. The site has no financial information to effectively combat certain narratives.
- Eradicating white supremacy. When one thinks about white supremacy, the KKK comes to mind. Burning crosses are visualized. A time of “white only” signs enters the brain. The reality many people may not want to hear, is that in 2020, white supremacy how most people understand it does not equate to the level of Mississippi Burning or To Kill a Mockingbird.
- Regurgitating “white supremacy” and calling people “white supremacist” if they are not is damaging to unifying America. The learning curve for the new-age-white-supremacy will be difficult for some people to grasp. Thus, the unintentional defiance will hinder the equality advancement people think is taking place when we may be going in the opposite direction.
- BLM appears disingenuous about intervening when violence is inflicted on Black communities by vigilantes. As an example, the oppressive violence occurring daily in Chicago is alarming. However, BLM ignores the elephant in the room as discussing Black on Black crime, which is a serious problem, has been deemed “racist.” Young Black men glorify violence and killing each other. People are not surprised when the violence occurs. Therefore, it is a reasonable deduction that “vigilantes” is only applicable when a white police officer kills a black person.
- Where is the BLM Imagination and Innovation community center located? With the funds BLM has raised, what community centers have been constructed to advance Black joy? What tangible immediate improvements have happened for Black people? Immediate improvements seems to be misrepresented – or is it a blatant lie? These are questions detractors ask frequently and it behooves BLM to answer so the message stays on the right track.
Next:
- Certain words or phrases can be misconstrued when used haphazardly. Using “narrow nationalism” is an interesting description. The average person may not understand what narrow nationalism means and may turn to Google. The first search result after searching “narrow nationalism” turns up the following:
A Marxist site. The first search result after Googling “narrow nationalism” is a Marxist website. Search “narrow nationalism” and try it for yourself. The first paragraph from the site (www.marxists.org) reads as follows:
You will need to zoom or visit the website
RED FLAG ALERT
Opponents of BLM have been screaming BLM is a Marxist/Communist organization. The information after searching for “narrow nationalism” corresponds to a Marxist site. The first paragraph of the Marxists site explicitly supports communist ideology. The evidence of BLM Inc’s Marxist/Communist ties is either coincidental or intentional.
Next:
This section is quite the breakdown. One would theoretically interpret Black Lives Matter as an all-inclusive Black movement. Absent from this statement is “men.” Some people feel BLM is anti-men.
How can a movement that started due to the deaths of Black men in-turn be anti-men (caution offensive content)? We do not believe BLM hates men is true and at this juncture we understand what the ‘We affirm the lives’ section means.
However, since BLM chose to break this down, it opens the movement for selective interpretation which creates dissension.
Clarity is needed here. Who specifically is targeting Black lives for demise? Police, government, employers, gang members, or the system overall? Stats and facts would be helpful to objectively understand the “demise.” Debating and arguing with emotional subjectivity, inevitably will lead to an impasse about racial inequality.
Deadly oppression. We assume BLM is referring to death of Black people by police only. One could argue the violence of Black people, on Black people, by Black people is oppressive.
Yet, the gangs and Black on Black violence is taboo to talk about.
- Striving for liberation. What exactly does that mean? Some Black people do not feel oppressed and feel free, does that mean there is something wrong with free feeling Black people?
- Liberation cannot be hyperbolic.
- Advancing equality for all is important, especially for Black people. What stunts productive alignment is posturing that Black people are imprisoned by society and incapable of achieving success due to white supremacy.
