Charlotte Hornets broadcaster “accidentally” tweets N-word
Racism Score: 4.8
Dear John,
We are perplexed by your predictive text! John Focke, a broadcaster with the Charlotte Hornets accidentally tweeted out the N-word. John says it was an honest mistake. Does he deserve the benefit of the doubt?
It is really hard to say. You have probably been on the receiving end of “ducking” in a text and you know exactly the intended word. Very hard to figure out how you accidentally tweet out the N-word. Here is the tweet:
In the words of an excited Kanye…HOW, SWAY?!! How does that happen? The only two missed keystrokes just happened to be placed next to the two letters he intended to type, which is plausible. Unlikely, but plausible.
If you do not believe it is plausible, then the algorithm in his phone thinks he meant “N-words” when he supposedly typed “Nuggets.” How often does he type “N-words?” Either way, he sent it out for public consumption without proofreading. Unless he uses the word so much his eyes did not set off alarm bells after proofreading. Oy vey.
Apologies these days are a dime a dozen, so, if you believe him, you believe him, and if you don’t, you don’t. Goodness though, he either had “N-words” on the brain, or his thumbs betrayed him, or his phone auto-corrected to a word he uses often. Poor John.
