Chris Cuomo’s “I’m Black on the inside” comment is ok with Don Lemon, and plenty of other Black people
Racism Score: 1.3
If you’re Black and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap)
If you’re Black and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap)
If you’re Black and you know it, but your skin tone doesn’t show it
If you’re Black and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap)
Most of us grew up with the nursey rhyme song “If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands.” Chris Cuomo probably grew up with the remix of the song, with the lyrics above.
Or at least the remix is the version Cuomo sings in his head. The CNN host was choppin’ it up with Don Lemon and singing the Good Times theme song.
Don Lemon asked his patna how he knew the song.
Cuomo replied, “you know I’m Black on the inside.”
Stop the presses! No, he did not!
A sad reality is this type of friendly racial banter is no longer acceptable. One could argue, the very reason this good-natured racial humor between friends has been outlawed diminished, is due to the people who constantly scream everything is racist. Ahem, Don Lemon. Ahem, Chris Cuomo.
Not to get political, but as a political independent, it is fascinating watching the left, constantly attack the right, with racist gripes and accusations.
When the shoe is on the other foot, joking about race seems to be ok by people on the left. Just ask Jemele Hill and Cari Champion.
This was a light-natured joke between two friends, and there was no apology to our knowledge from, Cuomo. However, he did offer an explanation.
One of the most well-known not-so-secret secrets in the Black community, is Black people do give these passes out. As in, some white people get a pass from Black people in “you my nigga” down situations.
Cuomo apparently received the pass from Lemon. Why else would Cuomo feel so comfortable to say that? Because he has the pass, as Megyn Kelly astutely pointed out!
Some Black people did not appreciate Cuomo’s comment.
We are guessing most Black people were not offended, and we are assuming some Black people invited Cuomo to the cookout.
Cuomo is not our cup of tea, but this does not constitute a racist act. Insensitive cultural appropriation maybe, but not racist.
Example of Pass
Earlier we discussed Black people will give out passes at times to non-Black people.
Fast forward to 5:05 to see the pass in action.
