Jeremy Lin looks like he is crying wolf with no ‘coronavirus’ proof
Update March 12, 2021: The NBA G League identified the player who called Jeremy Lin ‘coronavirus’ and has decided to handle the matter internally. Therefore, the player will not be named publicly until the name is inevitably leaked. We stand by our original assessment…albeit with a smidge of egg on our face.
Updated Racism Score: 3.1

Jeremy Lin claimed he was called “coronavirus” during a game. A rational expectation from the public for Lin is to share who levied the offense. Despite the public’s understandable wishes, Lin has decided not to share who the culprit is.
“I know this will disappoint some of you but I’m not naming or shaming anyone,” Lin tweeted. “What good does it do in this situation for someone to be torn down? It doesn’t make my community safer or solve any of our long-term problems with racism.” Full tweet below:
Questions for Lin though. What good does it do to say it happened without proof? What purpose does that serve without providing the culprit? Did anyone else hear it? Did you say anything to the person?
We can understand not wanting to shame someone which would inevitably lead to them being cancelled. Not being able to provide a time, or place, or any other specifics for something that would garner national attention is difficult to get on board with digest.
If the goal is to bring attention to the racism and violence towards Asians, say that. Lin also may be in a predicament if the offender is Black. You can use your imagination, but Lin plays in a predominantly Black league. One would have to assume that plays a role into Lin choosing to keep quiet on naming the player. If the player were white, it would probably be easier to share with the world.
Lin is no stranger to racial controversy. In 2017 Lin was called out by Kenyon Martin for appropriating Black culture because of his dreadlocks.
Some people believe Lin coming forward about being called ‘coronavirus’ was brave.” We do not think it is brave to claim racism while refusing to provide key details such as who, when, and where. We think it is self-serving. Jussie Smollett and Bubba Wallace have curtailed unproven racist complaints. Non-disclosure by Lin unfortunately adds credence to those who believe people “cry wolf” about racism too often.
Former Kansas City Chiefs running back, Larry Johnson was not impressed with Lin’s forthcomingness, or lack thereof.
Does Lin’s silence regarding the racist antagonist equal racist compliance? Sorry to say, Lin must name names.
