Joe Biden on African American Community Diversity

Joe Biden is at it again. No wonder Saturday Night Live receives their best ratings during election years. Presidential candidates are “gifts” that keep on giving. Joe Biden is no exception.

Biden cannot help himself when it comes to commenting on Black people, or in this case, the African American community.

Biden was speaking to a group of journalists about Black voters and Hispanic voters, and NPR reports Biden had this to say:

“By the way, what you all know but most people don’t know, unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things,” Say it ain’t so, Joe.

Ahem, Black people are not a monolith! Once again, Biden issued a non-apology.

Earlier today, I made some comments about diversity in the African American and Latino communities that I want to clarify. In no way did I mean to suggest the African American community is a monolith—not by identity, not on issues, not at all.

We do not mind that Biden did not apologize, say what you mean and mean what you say. The issue is media outlets keep reporting that Biden “apologized” when no such apology exists.
