Noah Schnapp…what up my neighbor?!
Racism Score: 1.2
Chris Brown makes hits, fact. Chris Brown’s music is catchy, fact. Chris Brown’s music can get you amped, fact!
Stranger Things actor Noah Schnapp was singing along to Chris Brown featuring Lil Dickey’s song Freaky Friday.
A key element to the song/video is Chris Brown who is Black, switches bodies with Lil Dicky who is white and Jewish. Thus, to Lil Dicky’s surprise in his new Black body, he is curious if he can say the n-word.
Watch video to understand (fast forward to minute 2:15).
Now, watch Schnapp singing the song.
What did you hear?
Schnapp says he used “neighbors” instead of the n-word. Hard to tell. The audible is not clear and obvious, although kind of sounds like he used the n-word.
Schnapp issued an apology.
Goodness though, what a tempting to song to sing-along to! We are confident many Caucasians are asking the following questions at this moment such as…
- Why can’t we say it if we use the “a” at the end?
- Why can’t we sing it in the song?
- Why do Black people get to say it if it is racist?
Because that is just the way it is! When is it ok for people to use the n-word?
For educational purposes, here is Don Lemon and Sunny Hostin debating one another on when it is ok to say the n-word.
