Tom Gill believes BLM is a bunch of criminals

Tom Gill resigned from Coralville City Council after 30 years of serving. Gill was under fire for his comments regarding Black Lives Matter. During a city council meeting, Gill passionately described Black Lives Matters activists as “a bunch of criminals.”

The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports specifically, Gill advised “BLM, to me, is a bunch of criminals, and I have zero tolerance for criminals.” Gill went on to say that “Eighty percent of the town doesn’t give a damn about what you are talking about – they are fed up.”

Many people touted Gill’s comments as “racist”. Gill’s own family “fiercely disavowed” Gill’s comments yet did not call him a “racist.” Plenty of people (Black and white) have issues with BLM Inc. which in our opinion does not automatically make them a racist.

Naturally, the city council denounced Gill’s comments explaining he does not speak on behalf of the council or the city. Gill gave his farewell by sending a succinct email which read “If you didn’t get the memo, I QUIT See you down the road. Could you shut off my city email address?” Au revoir!
